About Sytron and how it works This medicine is a form of iron. It is used to treat iron deficiency anaemia as well as anaemia in people who have rheumatoid arthritis.
The iron in this medicine is combined with another chemical to form a compound. This compound breaks down in the gut and releases the iron which is then absorbed by the body. As this medicine is not an iron salt, it is less likely to cause stomach upsets or discolour teeth.
This medicine is available as a liquid that is taken by mouth
